Texas wildlife

Yesterday I went to dinner at my mom's cousin who was in Texas at the same time I was there. We were reminiscing about all the good stuff, but we also started talking about some of the not so good. She was telling me about checking beds for Scorpions before going to bed, so I shared my best wildlife story.

Anyway it was a beautiful day, and I was going to sit down on the grass, and as soon as I sat down I felt this horrible pain. It was the most pain I've felt in my life (and I've had a C-Section, which is pretty much the same as being in a knife fight you loose). I jumped up and tried to figure out what had happened. Virginia, my neighbour came running with an aloe vera plant that I rubbed on, but to no avail. It was a burning pain that was moving up my leg, and it moved all the way to my stomach and I got some really bad cramps. At that point I figured that I might want to see a doctor about the pain. I was sitting in this clinic, waiting for the judgement. I thought he was going to tell me that I've been bitten by a black widow or a brown recluse, but no, I've been stung by a caterpillar...

Cat?

My sister's cat just had kittens and my sister wants me to adopt one of them. The question is: am I ready to once again be a cat owner? Troy would love one, but would I? Not sure about this one.

No!

Troy prefers to speak Norwegian, but he does try English from time to time. At the moment his favorite word is NO!
I really have to start watching my language in front of him. Today he overheard me saying shit, and he kept saying Mamma, did you say shit? Shit, shit, shit. (Oops)

Cab ride from hell

I went to Oslo for a meeting today, and when we were leaving we decided to take a cab to the airport. We got in the cab and the driver seemed nice. He started driving and had to slam on the brakes to avoid a car in front of him, and at that point I started to pay attention. I looked at him in the mirror and it looked like he was really struggling to stay awake. His eyes kept closing, his head kept jerking and he kept rubbing his eyes. Seeing the driver like that scared me, but my co-workers did not seem to notice. His driving was crazy and I thought maybe I was a bad passenger so I texted my co-workers and they started to pay attention too, and it wasn't just me. Our yelps and screams did not seem to make our driver any more awake though. When we were close to the airport he was like an inch away from hitting another car. Man was I happy when that ride was over. Next time I will request a driver that can stay awake.

At least we got to the airport with enough time for me to visit the bookstore before we boarded. I love that bookstore. They have American magazines and books, I will probably have to eat noodles for a month, but it was worth it.

It's all in the details

I am amazed at Troy's memory, and how he really pays attention to details. We went by Mormor this morning, and again before bedtime tonight. When he sees Mormor he takes her hand and looks at it and asks her: did you cut your nails Mormor? She told me she cut her nails right before we came over. He is unbelieveable that little guy.

Rude

Norwegians are not the most polite people ever, and today we met a prime example of a rude guy. Troy and me went by the grocery store to pick up som milk, and Troy got to push one of the child size grocery cart. He was pushing it along, and he was following me, then this older man comes along with his cart. He uses his cart to push Troy and his cart out of the way. What the hell? Who does that to a two year old? I tried to be polite and tell him that he needed to move out of the way to let my two year old pass by him. He looked at me like I was the crazy one.

Troy is home

After spending five days with his dad, Troy is back home (he came home Wednesday night). I know he had a great time, but I missed him like crazy when he was gone. When he came in the door I was so happy, I could not stop crying. Luckily Troy seemed to understand that I was crying because I was happy, and he kept saying Oh Mamma, and then he asked me to take him to Mormor and Morfar so he could se his cousin Celina.

Hotel Carter NYC

I happened upon some cutomer reviews for Hotel Carter in NY today, and man are they fun to read.
I have a somewhat high tollerance for how bad a hotel room can get before I complain, if the price is right. I guess the hotel is cheap for being NY, but when customer reviews say that the room smelled like a homeless guys groin, I think that would be too revolting even for me.

If you want to read more about dead bodies, groping by the security guy's friend and more you can check it out here.

Optimistic

I am feeling a bit optimistic today. Troy and I are going to TX this fall, we have to. I had plans of taking Troy to a photographer when we got there and now I've found the perfect one. We will have to go to San Antonio, and she may be a little expensive, but she is good!
I love her pictures, and the pictures she took of a friends twins are just amazing.

Open house

Tomorrow I am having an open house, so today I will put in a last ditch effort to get this place ready. I truly hope that people will show up even though it is easter and most people have headed to the mountains to go skiing.

Troy called me last night (with some help from daddy) to say good night. There is nothing better than to hear that little guy tell me he loves me.

All alone

Right now we are celebrating easter in Norway, and one of the crappy deals of being divorced is to share Troy during the holidays/vacations. That means that Odin came and picked up Troy yesterday and will keep him until Wednesday evening. 5 days without Troy!! I've never had to do that before, and I am really not looking forward to it.
